Bending

Hot-line bending for clean, precise angles in acrylic sheet

Our hot-wire line bending equipment produces clean, accurate bends in acrylic and other thermoplastic sheets. We can achieve angles from 1° to 180° with consistent results across multiple pieces.

Line bending is essential for fabricated products like brochure holders, menu stands, shelf talkers, and custom display pieces.

Service Guide

When bending is the right fit

Line bending is used when a flat plastic sheet needs a clean fold, return, lip, stand, shelf, holder, cover, tray, display part or formed detail without building a separate joined assembly.

It is common for brochure holders, menu stands, point-of-sale displays, shelf talkers, risers, covers and small fabricated components. Acrylic is the most common material, with PETG, PVC and HIPS suitable for some jobs.

Choose bending when a single sheet can become the finished shape. If the piece needs multiple panels, clear joins, lids, hardware or display-quality assembly, it may become a fabrication job instead.

Angle and radius notes

Good bend quotes include material, thickness, finished dimensions, bend position, angle, orientation, and whether dimensions are inside, outside or centreline measurements.

Bend radius and material thickness matter. Tight bends, thick acrylic, long bends and multiple bends close together can affect the final shape and may need review before production.

If the part needs to hold a product, brochure, sign, tablet, menu or sample, explain the object it supports. The weight and display angle can change the best thickness and bend geometry.

For clear retail pieces, the bend line is part of the look. Scratches, trapped marks, uneven bend positions or the wrong bend direction can be obvious once the piece is on a counter or shelf.

How bending jobs are quoted

Pricing depends on material, thickness, cut size, number of bends, bend length, setup, repeat quantity and whether the part also needs cutting, polishing, drilling or assembly.

For repeat display pieces, one approved sample can help lock the design before a larger run. That avoids producing a batch with an angle, depth or fit that looked right on paper but not in use.

For display work, note which faces and edges are visible. Bending can produce a clean product, but visible edge finishing and protective film handling still matter.

If the folded part nests, stacks, clips onto something or packs flat, include that requirement. Practical handling can be just as important as the finished front view, especially for retail batches.

For counter displays and holders, a small change in angle can affect how stable or readable the finished piece feels. Include the real item it will hold wherever possible.

Common Questions

Can acrylic be bent to shape?

Yes. Acrylic can be line bent with heat to create clean angles for holders, stands, covers, trays, risers and display parts.

Can Plastix bend clear acrylic without joins?

Yes, many simple folded acrylic pieces can be made from one sheet without glued joins. More complex shapes may still need fabrication.

What information is needed for a bending quote?

Send material, thickness, dimensions, bend positions, angles, quantity and any photos or sketches showing the finished shape.
